Woman Kills Husband With Axe Over Family Dispute


LAKKI MARWAT: In a heinous crime, a woman reportedly axed to death her husband over a family dispute in Karim Baistkhel area of Bannu, ARY News reported quoting police.According to Mandan police, the woman, named Sultana Bibi, attacked her husband, Mohammad Roshan, 40, with an axe, killing him on the spot.They said the attacker fled the place and the body was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital.The officials said they had registered a case against the killer on the complaint of the deceased’s brother, Gul Sher Khan.Separately, in another incident, a man accidentally shot at and killed his brother in Mir Wali Kallay Bazaar Ahmad Khan area.Police identified the deceased as Ihsanullah. They said Adil Khan was cleaning his loaded pistol when it went off.They, however, said the police had started investigating the shooting.

KHAIRPUR: A local court granted five days' physical remand of two accused missing case of a young woman from Ranipur Haveli, ARY News reported on Saturday.Police produced accused Sohail Shah and Riaz Mashori after completion of four days' physical remand, before the court in the case of 20-year girl Sana Guramani who was allegedly went missing from Sohail Shah’s Haveli in Ranipur.The court granted five days physical remand of Sohail Shah and Riaz Mashori to police for investigation.Sana was said to be missing from the Haveli two years ago mysteriously. The police have failed to trace the girl so far.Reportedly the girl entrusted by her parents to the Ranipur Haveli after a family dispute.Caretaker CM Sindh Justice (rtd) Maqbool Baqar, had directed Commissioner Sukkur to inquire into the incident and submit immediate report about the girl.He has also directed DIG Sukkur to recover the missing girl immediately.The family of the girl, residing in Mena village, said that their girl was entrusted to the Ranipur Haveli. “We received a phone call from the Haveli and told that our daughter has been missing,” family members said.“We visited Ranipur Haveli several times but didn’t inform about whereabouts of our girl,” parents said. “We also complained with the police station of Ranipur but they did nothing,” aggrieved family members complained.

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has set aside all the objections raised by the previous Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) government against the members of the five-judge bench hearing audio commission case, ARY News reported.The five-member bench headed by Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial and comprising Justice Ijazul Ahsan, Justice Munib Akhtar, Justice Shahid Waheed and Justice Hasan Azhar Rizvi had earlier reserved its verdict against the Justice Qazi Faez Isa-led inquiry commission formed by the then PDM government to probe audio leaks.The government had objected to the inclusion of the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Umar Ata Bandial, Justice Ijazul Ahsan, and Justice Munib Akhtar on the bench.Justice Ijazul Ahsan pronounced the reserved decision on Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Abid Shahid Zuberi's petition which declared the objections "an attack on the independence of the judiciary".The apex court reserved the verdict on the then government's petition on June 6. Background On May 26, the five-member bench order of the apex court, headed by the chief justice, stayed the proceedings on various petitions challenging the constitution of the judicial commission formed by the then federal government, tasked to inquire about the veracity of audio leaks allegedly involving the SC judge and a relative of the top judge.The commission was headed by the most senior judge of the Supreme Court after the CJP, Justice Qazi Faez Isa. It also compromised of Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Balochistan High Court Chief Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan.

Consultation With IMF On Relief In Electricity Bills Underway: Solangi


ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi on Thursday said consultation with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) was underway for the relief in electricity bills, ARY News reported. Talking to ARY News programme "11th Hour", the minister said some final decisions for the purpose were taken during the last meeting of the Cabinet presided over by Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar the other day.He said the prime minister had directed the relevant stakeholders to hold a consultation with the IMF which was underway.The minister said the position on the relief in the electricity bills for the masses would be clear within a few days.He said energy-saving measures were under consideration as multiple factors involved in the prevailing energy crises.The caretaker government had limited mandate, authority, and tenure, he said, while emphasizing on cooperation of all the political parties in holding free, fair and transparent elections in the country. “Our job is not to criticize but to play our role in resolving issues,” Solangi remarked.He said the caretaker government would assist the Election Commission of Pakistan in holding the election in accordance with its schedule.The caretaker government has been performing its functions in line with its mandate, he said, adding “We have taken an oath to protect the Constitution. He said everybody had the right to peaceful protest and freedom of expression.“Under Article 218(3) of the Constitution, the Election Commission has the authority to hold free, fair, and impartial elections in the country,” Murtaza Solangi said in response to a query. The caretaker government would provide all possible assistance in this regard, he added.

The footage showed the dacoits looting valuables from a citizen. During the robbery, a citizen opened fire at the dacoits.The muggers carried out response firing at the citizen but a five-year-old girl namely Anum became a victim of the gunshot.The video showed Anum walking along the road with other children and she fell to the ground after receiving a bullet. The girl would be discharged from the hospital in a few days.Some eyewitnesses told the media that five muggers on two motorcycles were looting valuables from citizens. The girl received the gunshot while returning from a shop amid firing.An eyewitness said that the citizen who was robbed by the muggers shifted the wounded girl to a private hospital.Yesterday, a father-son duo was brutally killed by armed dacoits for resisting the robbery in Karachi’s Korangi area.Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Korangi told the media that armed dacoits killed the father-son duo at a book shop over resistance. The slain men were identified as Muhammad Hassan, 70, and Asad, 37.The CCTV footage of the terrifying incident showed three robbers entering a book shop and opening fire at the shop owners over resistance.The bodies were shifted to the hospital by rescue officials.

The spokesperson said that only 1.8% of earnings is being spent on the PIA staffers in the UK.The spokesperson added that Pakistan-UK direct flight operations will be resumed soon. It added that the airline’s country manager and sales managers were appointed citing the early restoration of direct flights to the UK.

KARACHI: The foreign exchange reserves of Pakistan have reached $13.12 billion, ARY News reported, quoting the central bank.According to the stats issued by the SBP, the country’s foreign reserves dropped by $44 million to $13.12 billion during the week ending on September 1, 2023. Pakistan’s Foreign Exchange Reserves Drop To $13.12 Bn


KARACHI: The foreign exchange reserves of Pakistan have reached $13.12 billion, ARY News reported, quoting the central bank.According to the stats issued by the SBP, the country’s foreign reserves dropped by $44 million to $13.12 billion during the week ending on September 1, 2023. The net reserves held by commercial banks amounted to $5.32 billion with a drop of $3.9 million.It is pertinent to mention here that the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) decided to introduce ‘structural reforms’ in the Exchange Companies sector to provide “bring transparency and competitiveness” in the sector.According to a statement issued by the central bank today, the reforms were introduced to provide better services to the general public and bring transparency and competitiveness to the exchange companies’ sector.“This is expected to strengthen governance, internal controls, and compliance culture in the sector,” the state bank noted.As part of these reforms, leading banks actively engaged in foreign exchange business will establish wholly owned “exchange companies to cater to the legitimate foreign exchange needs of general public”.

NEPRA Okays Increase In Hydropower Tariff


ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on Thursday approved the increase in tariff for hydropower electricity by 29 percent, ARY NEWS reported.As per details, the average tariff for hydropower is set to increase from Rs 3.85 to Rs 4.96 per unit for 2022-23.NEPRA also ordered the CPPA to conduct the capacity status of WAPDA hydropower stations.The power regulatory authority directed that the capacity status should be conducted separately and the report of all the stations should be submitted to NEPRA.Earlier in the month, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) launched an investigation into the issue of over-billing on faulty and slow-speed electricity meters.According to NEPRA officials, Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) violated the law by allegedly issuing average bills to consumers.NEPRA’s intervention follows reports of average charges being applied to technically sluggish meters, a violation of standard procedures.LESCO customers, in some instances, have reportedly been billed for periods extending from six months up to a year, raising concerns over billing practices.In response to numerous complaints, NEPRA has issued a show-cause notice to LESCO, demanding explanations for the alleged irregularities within 15 days.Authorities have stated that the power supply company has to pay a fine of Rs 200 million if irregularities are found.

He was replaced by Irfan Saeed as the new registrar of the high court.

"The banks selling the dollar to importers at Rs 305.70," dealers said.President Forex Association of Pakistan said that the US dollar has entered in the reverse gear mode and will come down to Rs 300.

The police have failed to trace the girl so far.Reportedly the girl entrusted by her parents to the Ranipur Haveli after a family dispute.Caretaker CM Sindh Justice (rtd) Maqbool Baqar, had directed Commissioner Sukkur to inquire into the incident and submit immediate report about the girl.He has also directed DIG Sukkur to recover the missing girl immediately.The family of the girl, residing in Mena village, said that their girl was entrusted to the Ranipur Haveli. “We received a phone call from the Haveli and told that our daughter has been missing,” family members said.“We visited Ranipur Haveli several times but didn’t inform about whereabouts of our girl,” parents said. “We also complained with the police station of Ranipur but they did nothing,” aggrieved family members complained.
